Three Siblings. One Year. Everything Changes.

Stained glass artist Callie Davis is in desperate need of a vacation. Burnt out and on the edge of a nervous breakdown, she’s taking refuge on Massachusetts’ tiny Carter Island. Callie yearns for long, lazy days and pretty walks on the beach—blessed solitude and an escape from the pressures of her career and complications of her life. Then she bumps into gorgeous Nate Carter, and everything changes.

Sheriff Nathan Carter couldn’t be happier now that the height of the summer season has finally come and gone. After four endless months, tourists have packed their bags and headed for the mainland. The quiet days of autumn are about to befall the town—the way Nate and his fellow Sandersonians like it best.

But nothing ends up quite the way Nate expects when he meets the beautiful blond with the big blue eyes. Callie’s pretty smiles hide secrets—deep, dark mysteries that have the potential to rip apart their lives.

Reviews

  • Great crime story - but too much…

I enjoyed the layers of crime story here, but the sex scenes bordered on pornography. Do I really need to have those details in a crime story? Come on. We get it, they’re both beautiful and have lots of sex, but that is not needed to solve the crime.
  • Good story, but…

There was an awful lot of apologizing, and “talk to me,” and “let me help, what can I do to help.” It got nauseating. About two thirds of the way through the book I started skipping the completely unrealistic sex scenes. Overall, the plot was good. I liked the characters. I was kind of surprised at the end, but I did actually guess it. The last chapter you could see coming a mile away.

The beginning started off a little slow but I hung in there. I love the romance mystery type of feel.
  • Explosive ending!

The beginning and middle are good although a bit formulaic… but the ending is thrilling and satisfying. The second book (which isn’t free) is about other characters in the book so it isn’t needed to feel satisfied with where this story ends. Really liked it! Easy read.

This book was one of the best that I’ve read in a long time. The story grabbed my attention right from the start. I was instantly drawn in by the romance and love how it developed into a mystery that I didn’t see ending the way it did. I didn’t see the mayor being behind it all but in hindsight his attitude towards Nate definitely links the pieces. People who knew also shocked me. I’m glad no one was hurt in the end, that Callie got closure and am looking forward to reading that she and Nate gets married and is with child.

I absolutely fell in love with this book I thought I knew who the killer was but I didn’t I was so surprised when I found out who it was and it would explain why Thomas was the way he was with Nate.

Normally, I wouldn’t be into a murder mystery but this story held me captivated. I loved the romance between the sherif and the stained glass artist.
