Description

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Jack Reacher will make three stops today. Not all of them were planned for. The “blockbuster” (Esquire) new Jack Reacher thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child, featuring “the best villain yet” (USA Today)!

Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!

First—a Baltimore coffee shop. A seat in the corner, facing the door. Black coffee, two refills, no messing around. A minor interruption from two of the customers, but nothing he can’t deal with swiftly. As he leaves, a young guy brushes against him in the doorway. Instinctively Reacher checks the pocket holding his cash and passport. There’s no problem. Nothing is missing.

Second—a store to buy a coat. Nothing fancy. Something he can ditch when he heads to warmer climates. Large enough to fit a man the size of a bank vault. As he pulls out his cash, he finds something new in his pocket. A handwritten note. A desperate plea for help.

Third—wherever this bend in the road takes him. Impressed by the guy’s technique and intrigued by the message, Reacher makes it his mission to find out more . . .

If this is your last book it was very painful and disappointing to read and I wish you luck in your next career.
  • ‘Exited’ this one pretty quick!

Too many characters. Confusing at times randomly throwing characters into the mix. Was 25 dead soldiers really necessary?

Too many characters and plot lines. All the great Reacher action, ie his lifestyle, physicality and moral code was overshadowed and I couldn’t even finish. As long as this author collaboration continues, I’m done with this series. Sadly.

This was my least favorite book in the entire series. It did not hold my interest. Usually I can’t put Reacher books down . I did not like this story line/
  • I want the old Reacher back!

Like so many of the recent Reacher novels, it starts great, then meanders with so many plot contrivances it makes no sense. I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Maybe Lee Child has his swagger back…dammit, missed again!
  • Just Not the Same, But…..

2.5 Stars. It was good because it’s Reacher. No offense to Andrew but the books just aren’t the same. This one kept me reading but the characters in need of Reacher’s help just weren’t that likable or sympathetic. I’ll keep reading everything they write though. Who am I kidding?
  • Don’t bother…

Really bad. Not the same Reacher. A complicated plot doesn’t make up for bad writing. Lee Child should distance himself from Andrew.
  • Reacher, Still the Best!

Some reviewers have complained this outing doesn’t have enough action, moves too slow…they don’t get Jack Reacher. He is a thinker, an investigator, motivated to right the wrongs done by others in service of their victims and his country. He acts when he needs to, and he always succeeds. This is another shining example of and a very satisfying story. I couldn’t put it down! Classic Reacher!
  • Not as bad as I expected

All the reviews are talking up how Andrew Child is no Lee. So true. But I really see it more as an editing issue. Some editor needs to get the guy to add more dialogue and stop the detailed over explaining (see the description of the port terminal as an example). And realize that Reacher has a sense of humor. The plot itself wasn’t bad, but it was a hard read at times. Willing to give him another shot.

Just not up to the standard we’ve grown used to
