Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Adventure takes a more mythic turn in Rinkitink in Oz, a thrilling fairy-tale quest filled with L. Frank Baum’s trademark whimsy and color. Prince Inga’s father protects their peaceful island kingdom of Pingaree with his three magic pearls. But when the island is invaded and conquered, Inga must flee with the cheerfully bumbling royal visitor King Rinkitink and use the magic pearls himself to save his parents and his home.

As the pair faces dangers and meets new allies—including some familiar characters for Oz fans—Inga must learn not only to use his new powers, but also his head when he loses those powers. Rinkitink in Oz steps beyond the Emerald City for a seafaring adventure that’s equal parts wit and wonder.

first of all, this book is absolutely awesome, I love it a lot, and it’s super captivating. the characters are great and really funny, and they all want something, like scarecrow wants a brain, tin man wants a heart, and lion wants courage, (spoiler alert) but it turns out they already had it, because tinman was the most caring person in the book, scarecrow the smartest, and lion… well, lion was lion, and he tried to be courageous, and, well, did it. Reading this is like an extended version of the movie, so if you saw the movie and wanted more, this is definitely for you. You get a lot more information and insight, more character dynamics too, and yeah, it’s really cool. 🚨SPOILER ALERT🚨 Im telling the story so yk what it’s about. Usually descriptions for books are like “a girl named Dora or smth I forgot, goes on a magical trip ig” so they’re not helpful at all ✌️ so the story is that a girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto get sucked up in her house by a tornado and the house lands in oz, a magical land, so she landed on a witch and Glinda the good witch took her slippers, and gave them to Dorothy, then Dorothy walks on to find scarecrow who wants a brain, so they team up, and later they find tinman, who wants a heart so he can love his old girlfriend, and then they find the cowardly lion, who is actually a coward if that wasn’t obvious, and they go to the wizard of oz to ask for those things. Im not gonna say the rest bc I’ve already explained the whole plot lmao ⚠️warning: talking about death⚠️ There’s some killing in it, nothing TOO scary or anything, but there is death. Some wolves get their heads chopped off i think or something, and some birds die but I don’t remember how. So I recommend something for like ages 4 or 5 and up if you’re sensitive, but I’ve been watching horror movies since I was like 4 or something, and I’m 11, so if you’re not sensitive, it’s fine, and anyway, there’s not that much description to it, just like “and he chopped of their heads” or something like that. Sorry, my memory is a little bad on what it said. So I give it a 5 stars. But my opinion is only mine, so if you read it, I hope you like it just as much as I did! Thanks for reading my review! :) Also not to be offensive or anything like that but I’m scared of the people that write these reviews half of them make no sense 🫩✌️🥀💔 Also I know this is off topic on a whole different level of off topic but.. why does the description of this book say the description of another book like it’s not even the description for the same book 😭🙏

I enjoyed my time with this book. It was very fun and silly. The characters were all lovable. I can understand how this book got so many sequels & movies. The tale is timeless and can be enjoyed no matter the decade.

Not sure if this is Apple’s fault but I did catch a few grammatical errors. Otherwise, great book, classic read.

This was an amazing book, I watched the movie first, many, many times, but the book? It’s kept me hooked. My compliments to L. Frank Baum. Beautiful work. Me and my family also like the audiobook over the 1939 technicolor.

That was so amazing to read after so many years and so many times that I have watched this on television including the first time it was televised in black and white. Shows you how even back then how amazing these people were to take this story and make it the absolutely most wonderful movie that it still is. Xo
