Description

Now an original movie on Prime Video starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine!

When Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of a prestigious art gallery in Los Angeles, takes her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band, she does so reluctantly and at her ex-husband’s request. The last thing she expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.

What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other’s disparate worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami. And for Solène, it is as much a reclaiming of self, as it is a rediscovery of happiness and love. When their romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her new status has impacted not only her life, but the lives of those closest to her.

The book ending was realistic, versus the movie. But, I loved the movie ending, because it gave hope and closure. I loved the characters more in the movie.
  • Arguably my favorite romantic-genre novel ever

This book is so well written and relatable for anyone who has ever been in a forbidden love “situationship.” Akin to the film, I always find myself coming back to this story to relive the magic. In my not so humble opinion, I give this 5/5!
  • Movie is much better than the book

Title says it all. This was badly written, not fun to read at all but probably because I saw the movie first. That’s why one extra star. Otherwise it’s a zero for me.

This was such a great read for the majority. Completely different than the film. However I can’t say I loved the ending. It felt very abrupt and unexpected. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
  • So predictable.

This is basically porn in the guise of literature. The storyline something a teenager would think up. Don't bother.
  • Kinder movie but great book

The book is hardly an original story but is very well crafted. Too much porn titillation but likely the intent. The movie based on this book did not go overboard on that score in fact, more romantic and has a kinder though perhaps less realistic ending. Usually I find the novel to be superior to the screen adaptation. In this case Showalter’s screenplay is just as impressive.

I absolutely loved this book. The passion, the heart ache, the love between two strangers. The ending broke my heart, but everything in between made me feel at peace…. 10/10 would recommend

This was such a page turner, I couldn’t put it down! However, the ending was so abrupt that it threw me for a loop. I wish a the author had circled back on a couple of questions that were left unanswered..
